I don't have a steady income right now, and I am learning the joys of simple living, a.k.a. not shopping. I have begun to second guess every purchase and analyze whether I really need it. The latest debate was a textbook. I am in a class and need to read a textbook that was overpriced, and I probably won't touch it when the class is over, so I decided it is not a top priority for me to spend money on. I figured I'd get it at the school library. Well, since it's for a class, there is a hold on the book from the professor, and you can't check it out of the library. I serisouly considered spending the hour of drive time (30 minutes each way from my house) in order not to spend money unnecessarily. Then I went to check my school mailbox, and there was a gift certificate to the book store! What?!?!? I have no idea where it came from, but it made it feasible for me to get the textbook without having to worry about the price. I asked the bookstore staff why I had recieved the gift certificte, thinking maybe it was a treat to summer school students or graduates or something. She looked at me like I was crazy, and said she didn't know.
So I have only one person to thank! The LORD! He is good.
