Where's your book?

So there's this cafe downstairs in my Dallas office building. I get lunch there nearly every day, so the staff knows me well. The guy in charge often brings me free cookies, and he notices when I don't come for a few days.

Today, at the cash register, where he has watched me pull my wallet out of my purse a million times, he asked me, "Where's your book?" I looked at him puzzled because I had no book, and so he clarified: "Your Bible. No reading today?"

Wow. He's noticed that from time to time I take my Bible and read it during lunch. I don't do this terribly often. Not as often as I could. But the times that I have have apparently made an impression. I don't know what he thinks about the Bible, but he seems to want me to read it.

What an unexpected source of accountability. Makes you think about what people notice, doesn't it?
