Birthday Date 2006

Last night, Dad took me on our annual birthday date. Every year, he takes each of us girls (I have 2 sisters) to a high class resaurant for our birthday. It's just the two of us. The destination is always a surprise. As the birthday girl, you just know to dress up. You never know where you'll be taken.
When I was little, the dates were entertainment like Magic Time Machine or the revolving floor of Reunion Tower. As I grew up, the dates became instruction on how to conduct myself on dates. Dad told me about the guy's role and my role and gave me pointers and standards to look for. Now, these dates are deep heart-to-hearts where we openly share with each other what's going on with us. It's amazing!
This year, the destination was Stephen Pyles, a new five-star resaurant in Dallas. As always, the food was impeccably delicious. Stephen had a flair for southwestern cuisine, which seems unusal for high class dining, but it was done so artfully and tastfully. That's the best tamale I've ever tasted. It was right up there with the softshell crab.

And don't forget dessert! Our dessert was named Star Canyon Heaven and Hell. Mmmmm...
