I've decided that God gives me a certain focus just when I need it. I may not ever attain the object that I was focussed on, but the path I took because of that focus is exactly where I needed to be. The path, therefore, and not the object down the road, was God's plan for me.
God gave me a relationship with a guy that led to engagement. With engagement in my face, I had to deal with stuff I had never let in before. It was a process. I suppose that when we both reached the point God intended to bring us to, He called it quits. It's as though God said, "Thank you for your obedience. I had things to teach you along the path you've been on. Now it's time to go in a different direction."
After that, God held the Navigator's missionary training program, Advance, in front of me and said, "Sharon, come toward this." So I went. I moved out of my apartment and in with my parents in preparation for soon leaving Dallas. Then that fell through. Again, it's as if God was saying, "Thank you, Sharon, for being obedient. You are now where I wanted you. That path led you here. And now we are going in a different direction again."
Did Anyone ever say the straight and narrow was one, long line?!?! Maybe it's more of a bunch of short, straight, narrow, segments that may change directions from time to time, but they all end up in Heaven!
The direction changes are the painful, confusing parts, but that's where the most growth is!
