Through my new friend Lauren, I met a whole group of YWAMers. YWAM is a large Christian ministry organization, and they apparently have a base here. I learned that there is an English worship service every Monday. I wanted to go, but the service was in the evening after dark, and I had no one to walk with. My desire to worship my Lord in a roomful of like-minded Christians overcame my fear, so I braved the streets of dark Antigua alone. I really wasn’t sure how I would get back since later in the night walking alone would not be an option. I thought maybe a taxi. I knew most of the YWAM people lived in the opposite direction as me, but perhaps maybe someone would be nice enough to walk with me to Central Park to get a taxi even though it’s not that close. I prayed for safety, put myself in God’s hands and headed out.
The service itself was indeed a sweet time of praise in which the preciousness of God was forefront in my mind. I meant every word I sang, and I sang loud.
After the talk, I met a woman who lives here permanently and asked her if she by chance knew of anyone who lived in the same part of town as me. She did! She introduced me to a young couple who live on my very same street! I had people to walk home with! Lord, I am overcome by the answers to prayer in the past 48 hours. Forgive me for my unbelief when the answers don’t come so quickly. Thank You for the reminder that I am not alone and am never alone.
To all those at home praying for my safety: Thank you! It’s working!
