Being a Good Person. No.

I want to climb up on the rooftops and shout that being a good person is not the way to find meaning in life!

Ephesians 2:8-9
For it is by GRACE you have been saved, through FAITH—and this not from yourselves, it is the GIFT of God—NOT BY WORKS, so that no one can boast.

I have met so many people whose goal is to be a good person. But what I am finding is that at some point, that leaves them empty. I know why. Because accepting God's grace and Jesus' forgiveness is the only way to find true peace and fulfillment. Yes, we are commanded--by God--to do good things, but these things are in RESPONSE to understanding what He did for us. We love because He first loved us. We love in order to show His love to others. Not to get something out of being good.

The interesting thing about Guatemala is that I rubbed shoulders with both the poorest of the poor locals and the richest of the rich tourists. And what I discovered is that the deepest need for everyone is the same: God's grace.
