I´m a Basketball Coach

Yep. A fellow teacher asked me if I wanted to join him for the basketball class. I played basketball with this teacher a few weeks ago, so I guess he figured I could do it. I said sure since there were no English classes during that time, and I figured I would be helping him demonstrate drills or something.
So we gathered the kids and walked to the basketball court in the town´s central square. Then he looked at me and said, OK, you take the girls, and I´ll take the boys. You can have that half of the court.¨
Um... I had thought I was just going to observe or help out! Not coach! Six young girls circled around me, waiting for me to instruct them on what to do. Oh my gosh. OK, I can do this. I reached back into the depths of my basketball playing days of junior high and tried to remember some drills. We worked on passing and then shooting. I actually remembered proper form, and when they made some baskets using it, they were very excited. Then we played a game. They didn´t understand half court rules and ran all the way into the boy´s side. The other teacher looked at me, and all I could say was ¨Lo siento! Chicas, no! Venganse! Solo mitad de la cancha!¨
We evenrtually figured out the half court thing, and then things went smoother. I need to learn more sports terms in Spanish!
