How Is My Spanish?

Some days I feel like I can speak Spanish. Other days I don’t. Sometimes I get out a long, complete sentence and am overjoyed to have gotten all the tenses and conjugations correct (Don’t be fooled…the times this has happened, I can probably count on my hands). But I have learned that my most internally joyful moments are also the most lackluster because no one says “good job.” See, when I am obviously trying and struggling through it, people smile and encourage me (that is, when they don’t seem annoyed). But when everything comes out right, they just move on with the conversation. But not even a continued conversation is a good way to know I’ve done well since some people just keep talking because they know what I was trying to say even though my grammar was poor. I guess there’s not really a fabulous way to know when you get it right. Can’t really be a people pleaser with the language learning stuff. It’s all about personal milestones. My personal milestone last week was to get a grasp of the past tenses. Success. Now for the future tense...
