My Wedding
It finally happened! I got married! We thought this day would never come! OK, not really, but the little ceremony we enacted in a tiny Guatemalan village felt pretty darn real for a moment. The ladies of the village were pretty serious about going through all the steps, and though my fake mother-in-law spoke in her village dialect, and I have no idea what she was saying, she was so into it that it felt for a moment like I was actually getting married. Crazy.
In this little village, they taught us about their customs and workmanship. Everything from their religious ceremonies to coffee farms to weaving patterns. They are wearing fabric on their heads as a sign of respect. Interesting, huh?
