Psalm 33:1

Things have been rough here. Drama. My own telenovela. I won’t post details on this blog, but let’s just say that I am a firm believer that you can’t run away from trouble. It exists everywhere. Yesterday I was in such consternation, I couldn’t focus in my Spanish classes, and I had to finish my assignment at home as extra homework because I literally couldn’t think, let alone in another language.

Today is the total opposite! It is a gift from God. I have peace and joy. I wanted to get in the Word. I wanted to read something with which I could just praise God, so I turned to the Psalms. I found Psalm 33:1:

“Sing for joy in the LORD, O you righteous ones. Praise is becoming to the upright.”

Not only am I excited to sing for joy and praise the LORD right now, but this verse gave me a little extra joy because it uses the verb “is becoming.” I just learned how to say that in Spanish this morning! So here is my own personal translation of this verse:

“Canta con gozo de Dios, O justos. Alabanza se sientan a los integros.”

That is not what the Spanish Bible my sister gave me from Spain says, but it makes sense to me. My very first Bible translation work!
